Middletown South Student – The Middletown, New Jersey, community is rallying around a local teenager and his family following a serious e-bike accident that occurred Wednesday evening on Newman Springs Road.
According to the Middletown Township Police Department, the collision took place at approximately 5:24 p.m. near the intersection of Newman Springs Road (County Road 520) and Jumping Brook Road.
Preliminary information released by authorities indicates that a 15-year-old Middletown boy riding an e-bike collided with the rear of a vehicle that was stopped on Newman Springs Road. Emergency responders were quickly dispatched to the scene following reports of the crash.
Members of Middletown EMS were among the first to arrive and found the teenager lying in the roadway. Emergency personnel immediately began life-saving measures before transporting him by ambulance to Hackensack Meridian Health Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for further treatment.
Police confirmed that the teenager was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Because he is a minor, authorities have not publicly released his identity.
The driver and passenger of the involved vehicle were not injured. Police stated that both individuals remained at the scene and have been cooperative throughout the investigation.
The incident prompted the closure of Newman Springs Road for several hours as emergency personnel responded and investigators examined the scene. Traffic in the area was significantly affected while authorities worked to gather information regarding the circumstances of the collision.
